Sympathy and love, Debra, with thoughts of the many happy memories you have of and with your Dad. He was one of the good ones, and you'll see him again in a happier place.

Debra Byrd (Jonesborough, TN)

A tribute to my dad:

Daddy taught me so many things, it would be hard to enumerate without leaving out something important. He had a wonderful work ethic. He was persistent in pursuing a dream and taught us not to give up on something just because the “going got rough.” While I was growing up, Daddy always had sideline jobs, like working in my grandparents’ nursery business, landscaping for friends, managing high school ball game concessions, driving a school bus, and managing community swimming pools in the summer, but his main job of teaching high school students never suffered. He included us in his multiple activities and hobbies, so skiing and flying were part of our fun, too.

Daddy always wanted the best for his family, and he expected the best from us. He set an excellent example of honesty, respect, and integrity in all things. He welcomed our friends and classmates into our home.

Daddy was a moral, upstanding citizen, and did so many good things, but that is not why I know that he is in heaven today. He repented of his sins when he was a teenager and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. Now, though I am grieving this unexpected loss, I am confident that I will see my dad again and I rejoice in that hope. I am grateful for the legacy he left us.

Daddy, we love you and miss you. You touched so many lives. We are better people because you lived. Thanks for the memories.

Debra
