Susan and Kirby,
Such a warm and loving tribute to Howard ... I remember fondly those days on Cherry Drive and Driftwood Lane and treasure the life our hardworking parents made for us there. He truly came full-circle with his burial on his birthday.
Love to you and yours, and know you'll find comfort in your memories of such great parents as Howard and Gene. You, and we, were blessed by their presence, and now they're together again. God is good! Saturday, October 30, 2010 |

Howard McDaniel----and his wife Georgene---set an example of affection, patience, and kindness for their children, Kirby and Susan, which extended to their children's friends. Through my childhood, high school, college, marriage, children, and grandchildren, to be Kirby's friend, was to be a part of an amazing circle of grace and attention from Howard---to always be inquired after and engaged without judgement, with genuine interest and deep caring, just as recently as a few weeks ago when he and I visited. Howard McDaniel, a life lived with faith and love.....will be missed. Saturday, October 30, 2010 |

What a class act Howard was! I so adored him, as did my parents. I will always cherish sweet memories of times spent with Howard. One especially skips to the top of the list: When my Momma was very ill, I was in Beaumont taking care of her. Kirby calls his 90-something year old Dad to drive to the brand new Krispy Kreme Donuts shop on Dowlin and buy some very specific cream filled and raspberry filled donuts and then . . . drive back to Momma's house to give them to me! On a Sunday morning, no less! And Howard, the sweetheart that he was . . . did just that. I will never forget the smile of that precious face and the joy it brought him to bring us those gifts from the heart. Kirby and Susan, you were so blessed to call this wonderful man, Dad. But never forget: He was immensely blessed to call you his children, He is now at peace. You be also. With the gentlest of love, Cheryl O'Bannion Martz Saturday, October 30, 2010 |

Kirby, old friend, may you and yours be consoled in your loss by the hope for eternity which your Dad's life exemplified. My prayers are with you. Do let me know if there is anything else I can do. Saturday, October 30, 2010 |
