I did not know Van as the 'Hat Man' only as Van and 'Firecracker', but will always remember him. While short it stature, as a person he had a big heart and a lot of tenacity on and off the football field and the field of life. A person I met that played against the '55 'dogs commented, "It is hard to beat a team when you can't even see the quarterback calling signals behind that line you guys had." Yep, Firecracker, you may have been short it stature but had an abudance of heart and tenacity for your size. RIP Bulldog Firecracker

Gracie, I am so sorry. The world lost a great person this morning. I will always remember "Hat Man" and his big smile. I love you guys and if there is anything you need please let me know. I hope you will find comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and he is now in the arms of our heavenly father.
