I will dearly miss my Aunt Myrt! No words can quite express the sad feeling and loss that I have with her passing. There are few people who have had such an impact on my life as she has. Her first husband, Uncle Dugie, was a wonderful man and also impacted my life tremendously! He has been gone since about 1972 and I still think of him frequently and the impact he and Aunt Myrt had on my life and my brother and sisters' lives. Whenever they came to visit us on our farm, it was always Christmas!!!! She was fortunate enough to marry another wonderful man, Cliff Matthews! He is truly a wonderful person and has taken such wonderful care of Aunt Myrt since they met. Without Cliff, Aunt Myrt wouldn't have been able to remain in her home all of these years. How many people do you know that are lucky enough to marry two wonderful men and have such great marriages!!!!! She will always be with all of us in our hearts. My mother was her sister and I have known few sisters who kept in such close contact with each other as did Winnie Mae and Myrt! They were always each other's best friend and genuinely liked each other. Aunt Myrt knew my children names, their husband's names, and all of their children's names. I have never met anyone like her and will miss her each and every day and will most miss those early morning phone calls with that distinctive lilt to her voice--what a LADY! I hope that she and my mom are up there right now having those long talks that they always so much enjoyed!!!!!

I remember going to Aunt Myrts home in Beaumont and sitting with her in the living room .I remember her home was beautifully decorated - always neat and tidy. And her ceiling was" magical" . It had the "popcorn" texture but it also had gold glitter . When she turned the lights on, the ceiling seemed to twinkle like stars.HA! She always had that little EXTRA something even in the ceiling.
I have been told many stories of her hairdressing days. These stories have inspired me over the years .
I will miss her laugh! . When Uncle Cliff and Aunt Myrt came to Nacogdoches to get shelter from the hurricane they kept me in stitches ! I think of her often and I always will.
