I am not entirely sure what to say here. I have written a great many words in my life but none seem more important then these. And at this late date, these words may never be read - still, I must write.
Phil, I am now much older than you were at the time in your life when you and I first met. You were the bachelor in the family. The cool brother with the cool car skipping the country as though it were your personal homestead. You were the distant second eldest Walker in the new Coleman-Walker clan. And what a group we were/are.
And then news came down that this confirmed man took a wife - Susan - and it was as if heaven had come to earth. I am certain that dad was never so happy.
I visited you and Susan - hell, stayed with you. You both invited me in as though I were a birth brother and then made me feel at home - you both offered me anything I needed. And Susan, God love her and her nutty accent, embraced me as well.
I have always admired you for your deep love for Susan - your devotion and respect - and your/our laughter about her foreign ways and accent. And for bringing your son into this world.
I cannot express how I loved Susan, how I love dad for bringing us all together and for how much I wish it had all happened sooner in our lives.
My grieve at the loss of Susan for you is indescribable. Yet, I am certain that she is there - in the heavens - with dad, with Hilda and with LD Coleman saying things like "ah, what a wonderful ride we had, Lord, what a wonderful ride" It was the MG times a million.
My love - and so you know, as you, I will speak to Susan often asking her to help me understand what this is all about. That Scottish girl knows now - she has been delivered into It All.
My love
Michael
