Dustin, This may well be the hardest message I have ever written, but I am compelled to do so.
For those who know you, no words can mediate consolation in the consuming awareness of such tragic loss. For those who do not know you, however, the imperative is to recognize and honor your unsurpassed loyalty, relentless courage, and unequalled commitment to personal and professional excellence -- all as demonstrated by your life.
As one of your instructors, I routinely noted the distinct and positive influence your simple presence created among classmates. Articulate, humble, personable, and insightful, you measured experience and academics to a degree exceeded only by your respect for and appreciation of the individuals with whom you came in contact. That is the natural leadership with which you gifted others. In all aspects, you were the motto you espoused so dearly: "Semper Fidelis" ... "always faithful."
I extend my deepest gratitude for the military service and the ultimate sacrifice you awarded to a country you cherished. As I consider my privilege of knowing you to be sacred, know that you do and shall remain warmly in my thoughts.
"What does the Lord ask of you? Only this: that you act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with your God." (Mic 6:8) Well, "little brother," you did what He asked of you; you have passed your final exam.
May the God you love embrace you gently with His infinite Presence and show you the love of those who remain here without you. Thursday, June 3, 2010 |

Chaney, I'm proud to have served with you and although you were taken too soon, men who have lived longer lives have achieved far less than what you accomplished. God Bless and Semper Fi brother. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 |

At LIT, You were an excellent student with the perfect attitude and aptitude in life. Very few times in an instructor's life does he meet the "one" that he knows had a full past and a bright future. All your classmates looked to you for your dedication, work ethic, experience and knowledge. We will always miss you and the future of America will not be as bright without You. You have made a difference in Your past triumphs and we will think of you every day because of the way You are. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 |

Dustin it has been a long time since we last saw each other. I wish it had not been so. You were a wonderful kid and will be missed. Of that I am sure. Tuesday, June 1, 2010 |
