My dear Uncle Tubby will be sorely missed. He's a sweet, funny man with a lot of backbone. See you all soon.

Where do I start? "Top", as he was known to many, was a good person. I remember walking into class and meeting "Top" for the first time. He was a gentle person until you make him mad. I liked him because no matter how bad things were he always gave an encouraging word. And he would always say his wife was the only person who could keep him straight. And the first time I met her she was a tiny lady and I asked Top how she could handle him she was so tiny. He said but she carries a punch like an 8 ft tall person. We laughed so hard I was crying by the time I left."Top" will be missed dearly. My condolences are being sent to to his wife and family.

"Top Whitty" Retired Master Gunnery Sergeant of Marines was indeed a stellar Marine. No doubt that he now helps Gabriel guard the Pearly Gates of Heaven, and sits at the right hand of GOD. Ever since meeting Top, I was drawn into his charisma and professionalism. Then a Gunnery Sergeant and I, a Lance Corporal, our bond tied as much more than a superior to a junior rank Marine. He became very much one of my Mentors. Our bond was further sealed during our service at Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, CA. I was fortunate enough to work just down the hall from him. There, we shared our professionalism and dedication to our Marine Corps. We reminisced about our service in Viet Nam and about all those with whom we had served. I am now sorryful for his departure from this Earth, but, look forward someday to stand with him with our Savior in Heaven. Semper Fidelis My Brother and My Friend.
