Dear Chance family,
Though I never was able to get to know Mr Chance better myself, he was very dear to my family through the friendship he developed with my father Kenneth Howard Ballard.

Mr Chance "met" my dad after we had posted a Veterans Day announcement in the Port Arthur News, and Mr Chance saw that daddy was in the same unit in Korea as him, though a year apart. He called Daddy up and they quickly became fast friends.

That began a great friendship and camaraderie between the two that both enjoyed so much. I remember talking to daddy many times about how much he enjoyed talking to Mr Chance about Korea, going walking at the mall with him and finding such a good friend so late in life.

My mother, sisters and I were so appreciative for daddy to have such a good friend as Mr Chance, especially before Daddy's Alzheimer's set in. As you all probably know, Daddy passed away in February.

I was sad when my sister Bonnie told me of Mr Chance's passing but I know that Daddy and Mr Chance are up in heaven together, having fun and finally free from all their worldly pains and worries.
We wish for your family only the best and know that your father will be missed by many who loved and respected him.God bless you.
