I have so many fond memories of her but one of my favorite memories was the time we went crabbing in the Gulf. When we got home Aunt Pauline made fresh Crab Gumbo, since then no other Gumbo has compared. After my Dad passed away when I was about 8 years old, Aunt Pauline and Uncle Bill treated me like one of their own. They were always there for me when I needed guidance or advice. Our comfort lies in remembering that she lived a full and happy life. She will be greatly missed by all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with Fred, Linda and the family during this difficult time. My heart sank when my dad, Delouis Daire, called to tell me of Aunt Pauline's passing. I know she is at peace and rejoicing with our Lord and now reunited with Papa & Momo Daire and Uncle Chunk. One of my fondest memories of Aunt Paul is when she came home to Ville Platte. She and Momo had spent all day baking homemade bread, sweet potatoe pies and her Banana Nut Bread. That was the day I got her recipe for Banana Nut Bread. It is still the best BNB recipe I have ever come across. She will be deeply missed and remembered always, especially when I make her BNB. Our thoughts and prayers are with Linda and the rest of the family in this difficult time. Tuesday, May 4, 2010 |
