Dearest Jill, Pam & Chip, Our heartfelt sympathy to you in these sad hours. We pray that God will comfort you as only He can. I know Wendell would not want you to be sad. You know he would be joking and distracting you at this point. Wendell was one of the kindest, most gentle men I've ever known. He was straight as an arrow in his professional life, fair and honest. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Jill, remember the "bobbing under the window story" that he loved , loved, loved to tell. I can think about it and burst out laughing. He loved not only to relay the details, but to physically demonstrate. What a fun, fun, fun guy !!! We will miss him greatly. Pam, my heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to talk to him the other day. I had the chance to tell him how much I loved him and what he had meant to me and how much I valued his friendship -- and to remind him of how much fun we had all shared. I am so thankful to you for that gift. Our prayers for your peace, all of you. Nell & Terry Morris Friday, April 9, 2010 |

My deepest condolences to all Wendell's family. He and my brother, A.D., were good friends and went to Nederland schools and then Lamar together. I remember Wendell always laughed a lot and could debate on any subject. My parents always said he would be a lawyer one day. He became a fine one and then distinguished himself on the bench. I'm glad I have such good memories of him. Friday, April 9, 2010 |

Dear Jill,
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Wendell was such a kind and considerate man. What a special person he was, and what a wonderful tribute to his life to have so many people remember him with happy memories, great respect, and love. How blessed we all were to have known Wendell. I am sure that Wendell has already joined the choir in heaven...not to mention shared a story or two...
May the peace of the Lord be with you and your family. Linda Cook Friday, April 9, 2010 |
