I used to work with Bobby at the Helpdesk at Texaco before it became Chevron. I will never forget how nice and kind Bobby was. He drove me home on 9/11 because we had to evacuate the building that horrible day and we both lived in Katy. I was very sad to hear of his passing.

My deepest personal condolences to the Sheffield family.

Many in the family know firsthand of the friendship that Bobby and I shared as we grew up together.

To give meaning to others of the friendship we shared can be summed in the following story.

Once upon a time, there was a soldier that was stationed in a far away land.
Like all soldiers, he missed his family, home and especially his friends.
But he did like all soldiers tend to do in for foreign country.
He did his duties, discovered new cultures, travelled to new places and found a girl friend to pass the time.

He became aware of the meaning of war and the expectations of a soldier by visiting battlefield cemeteries.
He hoped and prayed everyday that the nuclear missiles in his unit were never used.
For if they were, it meant he would never see his family, home and friends again.

One morning, his commanding officer came to him and told him that his father had died.
The soldier quickly made his way home on one of the longest trips in his life.
He knew that family would be there to meet him at the airport and expected no one else.
To his surprise, his very best friend was also there making this a very special reception.
Through the jet lag and emotional haze, the soldier then realized he was really home.

On that day, his friend Bobby made him realize what the meaning of the word “Friend”.
From that day, the bonds of this friendship grew as the years went by.

If there is a message in this story may it be that Bobby didn’t just make friends, he made true friends.

There are no words to explain the loss or the grief you are feeling right now. I know this because I lost my dad suddenly two weeks ago. I am so sorry for loss. It is a tough road ahead. I have learned the only way I am still able to take a breath without it being painful is with the faith I will see my daddy agian. All of you are in my prayers. Mark, Dustin, and Danielle your dad was a great man and you will find happiness agian.
