Dear Carol Ann and Family:
Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time. I never had the opportunity to meet Don personally but know through you Carol that he was a fine individual. I know that you brought him a great deal of happiness and even though your time was short you will have your memories forever. God Bless You and Your Family. I love you. Thursday, March 11, 2010 |

Dear Carol and Family, I share with you the loss of Don. I worked with Don at Texaco and can tell you that Don deeply loved each member of his family. When we would work on engineering projects together and shared personal stories, he spoke well of each of his boys and Deanne. When I first met Deanne and Matt, they were pre-teen and swimming in Don's pool at the house.
Don and I helped each other complete work related engineering tasks and developed a friendship. Don taught me how to prepare a gumbo. When my now age 16 daughter, Alex, had her first birthday party, Don cooked a large pot of gumbo and transported it from Winnie to Dickinson for the party. When I had to go to court to keep my daughter from being taken to New York and out of my life, Don drove to the Galveston courtroom and sat in the gallery each day of that week to show his support. I will never forget Don's friendship and emotional support in my time of need.
Although Don could be hard on his children, his heart was to prepare them to be independent adults who could and would care for themself and their future families. I pray that each of the boys and Deanne will forgive Don's toughness, and remember the love and sense of responsibility Don felt for each.
Carol, you brought happiness into Don's later life. Prior to the two of you getting married, he frequently spoke of your happiness and kindness to him. Thank you for bringing sunshine into his life.
Don, I will remember your friendship forever. May God Bless You and your family as you watch over us from heaven. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 |
