Dow Wynn was one of the finest gentlemen I ever met. When I first came to Beaumont/Port Arthur in '71 as a young radio reporter I met him at the Port of Port Arthur. He was a man who earned respect by his giving respect to others.
Port Arthur is fortunate to have had his historical expertise during the 75th anniversary celebration. Dow, I believe, wrote one of the pamphlets detailing the city's history up to that time. I still have my copy.
To his family: You have lost a great man. Thank you for sharing him with his community in so many ways.
It was a pleasure to know him. Wednesday, November 11, 2009 |
