Sheryl, Miguel and Carlos, I will miss my cousin. I was so fortunate to have a phone conversation with Pookie just a few days ago. I could tell the weakness of his voice, but his laughter and joking were the same. It didn't matter if we hadn't seen each other for days or years...when we met up, it was like we picked up from the day before. I will always remember him coming into our home and heading for the refrigerator for frijoles and tortillas, which mom always had on hand. It was the most difficult thing I have had to do in my life, to tell my mom that her Pookie Dookie was gone. I hope he knew how much we loved him...He always made you feel that you were important to him without saying a word, you could just see it in his eyes. He was one of a kind, and I only hope that I will leave this Life with a legacy of Kindness as he has. The packed Funeral home tonight proved that. I am so proud to say he was my family......A SOLIS. I offer my sincerest condolences to the entire Solis family. I remember spending time with Ramon Jr during high school years and playing music with Mr. Ray and Uncle Steve. Those are some very good memories. My family will keep Uncle Steve and the entire Solis family in our prayers. Tuesday, September 8, 2009 |
