To the Gallier family:
I met "Margie" in 1966 and worked with her for approximately 15 years in the Criminal Courts of Jefferson Co., Tx.
She was a special, sweet lady and was hard-working and very industrious. She worked her way up from Matron with the Sheriff's Office to Lady Matron (Bailiff) of Criminal Court to Administrative Asst. to Clerk of Criminal Court and 252nd Criminal Dist. Court.
She was employed by Hon. George D. Taylor, Hon. Larry Gist and Hon. Leonard Giblin during their tenures as Judges of the Criminal District Courts.
I can still hear Judge Taylor calling for "Margie" when he needed something urgent. She was his "right-hand man," and he couldn't have done without her, as he sometimes told his employees.
Margie and I shared a small office together for approx- imately four years and I don't remember ever having a disagreement with her.
We were good friends and shared many laughs and many good times together. Once a lady was fainting in the courtroom and Judge Taylor hollered out to Margie to assist her, so I gave her the bottle of spirits of ammonia (which we kept for such purposes) and when Margie placed the bottle to the lady's nose she jerked up, and much to her surprise, Margie was left standing with the lady's wig in her hands!
My condolences to the Gallier family. Margie was loved and respected by all her fellow employees at the courthouse. She will be missed.
