We gathered at the home of Deborah Crumbaker, oldest daughter of Charles Eldon Hauth, and held a memorial here since she could not attend the official one. She shared the life of Eldon with us and on behalf of the entire group we wish the family peace and offer them this prayer.
"O My God! O Thou forgiver of sins, bestower of gifts, dispeller of afflictions!
Verily, I beseech Thee to forgive the sins of such as have abandoned the physical garment and have ascended to the spiritual world.
O my Lord! Purify them from trespasses, dispel their sorrows and change their darkness into light. Cause them to enter into the Garden of Happiness, cleanse them with the most pure water, and grant them to behold they splendors on the loftiest mount."

I cant be there in person but this at least is a nice place to leave my notes and to let people know that I will miss my father. He was a joyful man and loved to make people laugh. He liked being around people and doing things with them. The things that made him happy were his model airplanes and trains. He did love trains so much he even got to take a ride in the engine of a train in Colorado and videotaped much of the scenic trip through the mountains and tunnels. He visited the Railroad museum with myself and my husbands parents, Annie and Gary, and they still remember that day and how informative he was about all the railroad history. He was an excellent historian about WW II and about the trains in the west. He did a lot of work with the Masons and became rather high up in the ranks of their leadership. When I was a teenager he joined the Civil Air Patrol with me and became a Captain in the CAP. We did several search and rescue missions together looking for downed airplanes. I mostly got to serve coffee and support the searchers but he got to fly.
I will miss all his bad jokes and I am sure most of his friends will also. Thursday, August 27, 2009 |

In a person's lifetime many people will cross your path. The special ones will make a lasting imprint not only in your mind but your heart I was the one who donned him "Pop". Mr Hauth was just too formal..So, from that day forward he became " my Pop". When I was recovering from surgery, it was Pop who took me to therapy. When the hurricanes came and I was working unmerciful hours with the electric company, it was Pop who baby sit my precious baby Shih Tzu puppy who was only 3 months old. He literally would sit and hold her in his recliner. And Steinway was Pop's girl too. He would tease the pants off me.. If I ring the doorbell, he's tell me slide your money under the door. Or What do you charge to haunt a house, and I'd tell him ,for you, Free... I will never live down the time when he gave me an electric chain saw, and I ask him how much oil and gas do you put... he told Nana and I that was a typical question from a red head and a blonde... He laughed and he laughed... If he had any new jokes or tricks, I was the victim. Pop will be missed but I will have the memories of good times to hold in my heart. Good Night Pop. Love You, Dingbat Wednesday, August 26, 2009 |
