I remember my parents being so fond of Mrs. Toups from the time I was a little girl. What a caring, kind and wonderful human being. I loved her sense of humor and contagious laugh.

May Mrs. Toups rest in peace. Sending my sympathy and prayers to all family members.

Barbara and Jerome Fertitta (Beaumont, TX)

We regret that we did not learn of Peggy's death earlier.
My friendship with Peggy began before her marriage and during my visit to Bmt. Eventually I moved to Bmt. My wedding was planned for a church in Bmt and a few days before I located Peggy living with her husband in an apartment on the Lamar campus. She was expecting her first child and we laughed about her size and no clothing that fit her so she could not attend my wedding. Many welcomed babies followed for both of us. We continued to keep in touch through the years but the visits became limited as a result of our busy daily routines. I would stop by her house often after our children went to school for a cup of coffee.
She loved her children dearly and we laughed lots over the dreams we planned for each child. When I was ill she was kind and attentative to any need she might beable to fill for me. Her compassion for others was the passion she showed as a nurse but justice and fairness was another equal side of her persona.
We made many memories to laugh about working together for a short time.
I did try to reach her when I learned of her failing help but my timing did not allow me the blessing of conversing with her directly.
Our months have been filled with prayers for her and the needs and comfort for her family as her health failed. The peace she is enjoying also reflects in the grief of her absence. Our prayers and sympathy continue for each of
you. May God bring you comfort knowing peaceful rest is hers to enjoy forever.
Peggy loved her children, friends and family ... always with a smile, support and strength of hope.
Peggy will be missed by each of us. As a mother, friend or relative she leaves the gift of her spirit that lives in our memories of a kind lady.
Sincerely,
Barbara and Jerome Fertitta

Mitch, Steven, Suzanne, Andy, Wendy and Janet, I went to see your mom in the nursing home the week before she went to hospital and she seemed to be her old self again, glad to have been with her that day laughing about the good old days, it hurts my heart to know she is gone but, I know my mom is been waiting for her, she use to say to me "jer" I know your mom is holding my seat for me and I will see my old friend soon. I know they laughing and telling jokes and playing video poker up there, so I know she is now at peace, I pray you all find peace and God be with all of you at this hard time in your lives, she loved you all so much.
