Tommy East

Don Jacobs (Beaumont, TX)

We had lost touch, but Tommy was an old friend of mine from the 1960s and '70s.

One night long ago, I heard that a guy named Tommy East would be playing at a little joint on Avenue A in Beaumont. When I walked in, I thought Benny Barnes was singing, but it was Tommy. He could do impressions of anybody. Great singer. After that, I wrote an article about him in the Beaumont Enterprise.

My deepest sympathies go out to the family.

Tommy,
It was a pleasure meeting you at MacKenzie's thru Woody Leone. I saw you go from barely walking to shined up and singing in just a few months. I am so glad I got to hear you sing and see what others already knew was there. May your soul be at peace now and you... Go Rest High On That Mountain and sing some Merle with angels for your backup choir.
I pray for peace and compassion for your family in their time of sorrow.
Linda Morgan and Woody Leone
