Wow, I just saw this. I will certainly validate John's sentiment. Norris was absolutely one of the good guys in the world. He was my first boss and I have always been all the more fortunate for it.

John Beath (Beaumont, TX)

I attended the funeral today and was reminded of the influence Norris had on all of us at Unocal. One of his achievements was the Safe Practice Standards that taught all of us how to do dangerous jobs safely and likely saved many injuries. Norris was my boss for just one year (I went on to become the environmental manager there), but I'll always remember how he stuck up for his employees, nurtured their ideas and was always there for them. My wife, Debbie worked for Norris for many years as well, and she thinks about Norris and his influences on her all the time. Norris was one of those people that you just plain wanted to get it right for without him ever having to ask you to. We'll miss him but we have his principles and we'll work to pass them along whenever we can. Best wishes from Debbie and I.

Carolyn Butler (Nederland, TX)

My condolences to all of Mr. Hatton's family. I worked with him at Unocal when I was in my early 20's. He was such a nice, pleasant person to be around. That was 25ish years ago. I still remember thinking how nice he always looked and how nice his cologne smelled, lol. Funny what you remember about someone. I know you have great memories of him, and hope those memories will keep you smiling even during the rough times.
