I can't remember when I did not know O.H. My first memory of him was as my Sunday School teacher when I was 8 years old and my last was when he called a year ago to check on my mother, Nell McCormick, who is his age and who had just moved to Calder Woods. He was a respected and humble giant of a man. They don't make men like him any longer. Thinking of all of you at this time. Jim & Carolyn McCormick Monday, June 2, 2014 |

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Mayes passing. In the short time I knew him I learned to respect and love him. He would come into my office and sit and talk to me a few minutes or I would go to his office and talk with him. I really enjoyed his company and his wise words. I will forever treasure and remember the day he walked into my office with his hands behind his back and said, "how is your day?: I was not having a very good day and told him this, he smiled that little grin and from behind his back pulled out one of his carvings of a dogwood flower and said, "maybe this will make your day better." I was so surprised and excited that he would give me one of his beautiful carvings! It sits today on my mantle. I'm VERY protective of it and will treasure it all my life. He was kind man with great faith. I am better for having know him. May he rest in peace! Diana Deepest sympathy Cliff and Diana Mayes Monday, June 2, 2014 |

Dear Mayes and Golias families, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Mr. Mayes was a fine talented gentleman who always offered an encouraging word. I still remember the last conversation I had with him when I worked at Helena Labs. May your memories comfort you. Monday, June 2, 2014 |
