Waldine Burnett Ross (Friendswood, TX)

She was such a wonderful lady and I have so many good memories of her from growing up with Phyllis and Lavisa. She welcomed me in her home as if I was one of hers, she always had time to talk to us and laugh with us when we were teenagers. She set a wonderful example of a lady having a career and raising a great family at the same time-she may have even been ahead of her day. She hosted a beautiful bridal shower for me in 1977 and she and Mr. Payne came to my wedding in Houston and that always meant so much to me. She also fried the best chicken in the world. I will always keep her in my heart.

Sorry for your lose, my prayers are with this close family. I admire all the years she gave to make children lives more than they would have been. Thanks for your kindness

Glenda Buckley (Beaumont, TX)

I am so sorry to hear that Laffelle passed away. What a sad time for all the many, many people that knew and loved her so much. She was a beautiful, lovely, smart, and sweet lady- always looked up to by so many, including me. She was a joy to be around. She was a blessing in my life. I am so glad that I got to know Laffelle and not long ago got to spend a whole day with her. I will miss her very much. She loved her family so much and talked about all of her children and grandchildren every time I visited with her. She and Shorty had a wonderful life together.
My love, thoughts and prayers go to Shorty and all of Laffelle's wonderful family,
Glenda Buckley
