"Chief" Carpenter was one of the nicest men to ever walk this earth. My brother and my daughter worked for him at Lamar PD. I worked for Beaumont PD, but I worked "with" him for many years. I know he will be missed by many because everyone who knew him loved him. When we crossed paths over the years I always looked forward to a big ol hug from him. He always had a great big smile on his face. Never seemed to have met a stranger. Good man. May he rest in peace.
