I have loved Allie since I was a little boy. One of my fondest memories is the wonderful vacations our family spent at Stewart Beach in Galveston. Dad had to rent more than than one cabin to hold our crew! Allie didn't care for the sticky salt air, but she braved the elements and filled our plates with delicious Cajun cooking for two whole weeks. This is how this grand lady lived her life. I used to tell her she was going to live a long life because of her positive faith outlook. Allie loved her Lord, her family and people. I will miss her, but I'll see her again. Love you, Richard

My Mom

I know everyone thinks their “Mom is The Best In The World”, I'm going to tell y'all why I think
My Mom Was The Best In The World. Growing up My Mother was left with 6 kids to raise, two step – sons and four of her own. Mom always looked at all of us as her own, loved us with all of her heart.
We didn't have new cars or a big fine house, but Mom always made sure we had ironed clothes on, food in our belly and “ALL THE LOVE” she could give, we had a Home. She always done without to make sure we had what we needed. I can remember as a child Mom would take me out on country roads in our Studebaker. Mom would stop, get out and walk down the side of the road. Mom would pick up cans and bottles and set them on fence posts so I could shoot them off. Mom would drive a car load off us to Manning's Skating Rink at Gateway every Friday and Saturday Night. Mom would sit outside all night and watch us skate and the stay for the sock hop.
Mom always tried being a Mother and Daddy to me and she done a “A FINE JOB”. The things that Mom couldn't teach me My Brothers stepped in and taught me, how to hunt, fish, swim, ski and many many more things, along with my Sister. Mom always went to church along with us every Sunday, Mom always taught me to respect my elders, stand up for what you believed, help your family when in need. I could right a book about all the things My Mom done for me but to put in simple words.
“I Had The Best Mom In The World”
God let us have Mom for 93 Wonderful Years
Now God Has The Best Angel Earth could ever give him.
Rest In Peace Mom
I Love You Always and Forever
Like Daddy Said I'll Meet You In Heaven

Pat Mandry Babin (Houston, TX)

When I reflect on my childhood and all the good times that I had in the neighborhood, I always smile when I think of Mrs. Vaughan. When Bertha, Eddie, and I were growing up in the 50's and 60's we used to play baseball in "the field" across the street from their house. Well...Eddie played and Bertha watched. When it was time for dinner, Mrs. Vaughan would simply open the door and holler, "Bertha, Eddie, time for dinner". They would fly home because she was such a great cook and because Mrs. Vaughan did not play when it came time for her kids to behave. However, she not only loved and disciplined her own children, but all the children in the neighborhood. Those were the good old days when the entire neighborhood raised the children and we had many mothers and fathers who took care of us. I feel blessed to have been one of the children of Avenue D, E, and Wall in Beaumont, Texas. To the entire family of Ella Marie Vaughan, my love and prayers are with you all. To Mrs. Vaughan, thanks for the childhood memories and for being one of my neighborhood moms.
