I love and miss you Gene- (This is your stepson Russell talking about and describing things below) You taught me to drive that old Blue Coaches Chevy Impala with that Quadrajet 4bll carburetor (and all the umpire equipment in the trunk) that you always said just put it to the floor and it will always keep cliimbing. And that if you veer into the lane of other traffic while teaching me to drive that they would always get out of the way... How I always loved getting picked up by you after school on some Fridays in Katy Tx as you drove from Cleveland Tx and once it was Good Friday and we wasnt supposed to eat meat (either one of us new about it) and you took me to that Whataburger in Humble TX (Driving back from Katy Tx to Cleveland Tx and we we're so hungry) and bought me that double meat cheeseburger and you had the same, and we both just had the best hamburger that day in our life!!!! And when we got home, Mom asked us if we ate meat today and we both had that ohhh crapppp look on our face (We never knew it was Good Friday and wasnt supposed to eat meat- guess that why it was so good)!!!! I remember you Gene from the 7th grade in Cleveland Jr High. You were a substitue teacher and you were dating my Mom. I remember you Gene as an Umpire going out with you to the baseball fields just out of Cleveland TX and watching you umpire tha games. You loved that so much, that was your inspire!!!

Gene you always made me laugh and made me feel at home- Thank God for you being in my life and I will always love you. You are a good man!!! And the best Step Daddy I could've ever had. I just cant desribe how much I miss you and wish you were still here!! God Bless You- Russell......

Hard to believe such Ana amazing person and teacher is gone! We will all miss you! Never a dull moment in his class, he definitely made science fun and learning too! Lucky to have had him as a teacher and had him in my life. Lessons he taught us will never be forgotten. :'(

It's really hard to believe one of my favorite and one of the most influential teachers I've had in my life passed away. This news deeply saddens me. It was just yesterday it seemed like that I was sitting in his class learning about tectonic plates and genetics. He spoke about the beauty of Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. One of the few adult men (that wasn't a native Spanish speaker) that understood and at times spoke Spanish. One of the first things he said in his class was, "if you're quiet and listen. You might learn something this year." I can't thank him enough for the encouragement, advice, and his words of support. He is one of the main reasons I started a career in a STEM field. Thank you Mr. Fleming for believing in me. You will be missed sir and I'll make sure to stay between the ditches.
