Mr Payne, i thank you for everything. Not just the haircuts, but the life lessons you gave with them. You showed a great fond love for mankind that many people do not possess. You are and will remain a role model for generations to come. I will miss you greatly, as do many many others. We know your ok now, smiling down on us from heaven above. Thank you for everything.

Ms. Karen,
Sour Lake without David Payne is inconceivable. He made our community into a family. And as a family, we share in your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

David was loved and will be terribly missed by so many people. He touched so many lives in various ways over the years, and even in his passing from this earth, David has brought people together to remember him. I know he's entertaining the angels today with his jokes and funny stories. Rest in peace, dear one, and may your family find comfort during the days ahead.

If I ever had a true friend, it was David. He was always there, calm and cool. A pillar in the town. It is not many barbers that can say they cut 4 generations of Cartwright's hair, but David did. When daddy moved to the farm, he would drive back to David's for a haircut! Many memories and good times. Praying for his family and friends. RIP my faithful servant, job well done.

You were a good, kind man. I have many fond memories of sitting in your shop listening to the talk of the town while waiting for a cut. You will be truly missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
