Linda, Chris and Kimi, I wanted to tell you that I am grateful for you. You shared him with so many people over the years. What you may not know is that he talked about you every time we saw or spoke to each other over the years. Wayne loved you all so very much. His family and his Lord were his true strength. He trusted me with keys to the studio and encouraged me to strive for excellence in everything I do. It is because of his guidance and trust that I am doing what I love. More than that, he was good friend. We met in the fall of 1987 and we remained friends even through death. When we spoke at LU Band Camp in 2012 it was just like we had seen each other yesterday. I thank God for sharing all of the Dyess family with me for so many years. May God Grant you the Peace that passes all understanding.

I'm at a loss to describe how I feel right now. Knowing you both since 1965 (the Pittsburg days), the time I spent in Wayne's band at Lamar, and through today leaves me with a huge hole in my heart. There has always been a lot of love between our families and I cherish those memories greatly. None more so than when Wayne played at Dad's funeral in 2007. I wish I had the talent to do the same for Wayne. I suspect Dad and Wayne are discussing a few arrangements right about now. All my love, Michael Walker

I want to extend my deepest sympathy to the Dyess family. I was so fond of Dr. Dyess during my years at Lamar University. I loved taking brass class from him and he was an awesome marching band director. After graduating, I worked in the band office for two years. He was always so professional and willing to lend a helping hand. He was an amazing musician, fun teacher, mentor, and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Lynda, I am so sorry for your loss. Although I haven't seen the two of you in many years, I treasure our times together in High School and in the band. It sounds as though Wayne touched many lives in a very positive way. Our thoughts are with you in this very sad time. Eileen Wilson Coffman

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and all the many lives you have touched. The world is a sadder place without your music and laughter.
