I knew Wayne for more than ten years. When I had a band in Atlanta he did several arrangements for us and when he decided to form the Night and Day Orchestra we were able to help him with some of the planning....at least we told him how we did it. Wayne was a great friend and I always enjoyed visiting with him when I attended his Lamarissimo concerts. He was such a fine musician and splendid human being. What a loss to the great American songbook.

I am so sorry for the loss of such a talented and kind man. I had the opportunity to get to know him at Lamar U in the late 70's and 80's. He was alway someone who brought a smile to my face and he had such a talent. God Bless his family.

Keep swinging in Heaven like you did down here. You helped us to get things done and still have a great time doing it. You provided so many of us with a valuable learning experience with a down-to-earth approach. Rest in God's peace - see you again one day.

I remember Wayne as a great trombonist and friend in the SFA college band. He was such a nice person.

Dear Dyess Family,

I'm a band mom. My 17 year old son, Colby, is a Junior at Nederland High School. He first met Mr. Dyess when he was in Jazz band, 7th grade, at CO Wilson. Colby's also a trombone player. I didn't personally experience the pleasure to meet Wayne; I just wanted to share with you that Mr. Dyess positively influenced Colby's love for music, and certainly his career path and future.

God bless you and your family, and may you find comfort in His protective care.

Blessings,
John, Susan and Colby Puz

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Dr. Dyess was a talented musician, director, instructor, composer, mentor, and friend. He had a big heart and shared his knowledge and love for the arts with everyone who had the opportunity to work closely with him. He showed me how to collaborate with musicians and vocalist and shared their talents with me by connecting me with some of the most talented performers in our area. He made me a better artist....he believed in ME...And my craft-Dance.
