I was saddened to hear of the passing of my high school classmate. It was heartwarming to read all the kind words left here, and to know that he made a difference. My deepest sympathy to all.

So very sorry to hear about the passing of Coach Cotton. I graduated from Vidor in 1981 and knew him as a friend. I didn't have him as a coach or teacher but a friend was his aide and we hung out in his class all the time. I will remember him always being such a very sweet man and that wonderful smile of his. I don't think people like him really realize how many people they touch and the impact they make on the lives of others. My prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends.

Coach Cotton made such an everlasting mark on myself and some many more football players across the southeast Texas area. He was however more than just a coach. He was a Great listener when other things other than football was going on in our lives. And how lucky am I to know I was one of the first he ever coached within his first coaching job in Vidor. This one hurts more than others because of the mark he left on me. Prayers to all the Cotton Family..
