While I'm not there in body, I'm there in spirit, and my heart cries. I weep for my loss and I love you so much. I struggle with the words, but I wish I could have spent the time to say good bye as you start your new journey. Bless your heart, I wish I were there by you to say good bye as God takes you home. I'm so sorry I wasn't able to have seen you more often, Uncle Van. You were my favorite uncle, and I will truly miss your presence in this family. You were an inspiration to all who knew you to the vitality of spirit. Rest easy in God's hands, my darling.

Uncle Van was the glue for our families across the United States; he offered help whenever he could and was always there for my Mom, Bernice. He will be missed.
