What an incredible role model Denver was to me as a young man. I'll never forget his bravado, sense of humor, red socks, quick step, and always positive attitude. I had the privelege of being in Explorer Post 53 during its best years and running lots of rivers and hiking lots of trails with the "Old Master", as he was often called. We have lost a great man.

Dearest Chip, Becky and family....I am so very very sorry that I was not aware of your Father's death until this week.
Your Father was a great mentor of mine and I truly adored him. He taught me so very much when I came to work with him at Warren. He was truly the 'Ole Master' and was always there for each and all of us.

We continued our friendshipment after Warren closed and I will truly miss him. He was such a great and wonderful friend and a true Gentleman!!!

On behalf of myself and my dad, Ronald Strybos, I am sending condolences to the family of Denver Knowles. My dad, who passed in 2007, thought the world of Denver and enjoyed the treks to Philmont. Perhaps there is nothing grander in the world than two old scouters reminiscing about all their adventures. I know Three Rivers Council has lost another great youth leader. Prayers for Denver’s family.

Mr. Knowles is one of the guys I have always had the most profound respect for. I was in scouting for a number of years including 2 trips to Philmont. One of my most profound memories is hiking down into boot camp at Philmont with Denver and abaout a gazillion other scouts from this area making a single file line for about 2 miles coming back down into the camp from the Tooth of Time ridge. Everyone had white teeshirts on and some of the photos Taken back toward the ridge were phenominal. Things Denver participated in weren't just good, they were the best...
