Doug was our friend for many, many years and we considered him family. He loved people, animals, especially his greyhounds, and the great outdoors. Sharing meals with him while listening to his stories are now wonderful memories. His sense of humor as well as his professional dental work always resulted in smiles! He was an admirable man - a man who truly made a difference.

Dr Mattingly was my dentist until the day I graduated from Nursing School & got married. He actuallly attended my wedding. As a nurse & patient, I know doctors like him are rare. He would visit the Hoffbrau where I worked weekly for his afternoon coffee. All the staff enjoyed his stories and jokes. I just learned today(6/6/12) of his accident. June 26th, 2011 I was in a near fatal car accident. I have struggled with the reason God allowed me to live. I have adored Dr Mattingly from the moment I climbed into his dental chair as a young child. Knowing from my accident how this precious man left this world, TODAY a yr after my accident I have closure and peace. Dr Mattingly continues to make my smile.

My sincerest condolences. Dr. Mattingly has the kindest soul. I feel blessed to have met him a couple of times and his presence will be missed by so many. He has touched so many lives and has made such a wonderful contribution with his work in and around the community. I would have loved to adopt a Greyhound or two.

Thank you for making a difference.

Sincerely,

Lisa J. Montiville

It was so sad to hear that we had lost one of my most favorite people in the whole world. Dr. Mattingly was my families dentist since I was a young child, and I actually always loved going to see him. He always came in with a smile, and made you feel so comfortable when you were in his chair. He will be greatly missed by many....my prayers are with the family!

Linda,
Roger and I have know Doug most of our lives-I grew up just down the street from him and Roger and Doug both worked at Williams Funeral Home when they were "kids". We were all good friends and later became his patients along with our own kids. They all loved him as well. We had lunch with him at Elijah's in Woodville last week and enjoyed him so much. We are so glad to have had a great visit that day. May God bless you at this sad time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Jane and Roger Forsythe

Dear Linda,my heart felt sympathy go out to you upon hearing about the passing of Doug,my loving friend for 40 years. I am so saddened because I cannot be there with you to tell Doug goodbye as I am in Dallas for my twins graduation. Frank just called a minute ago to tell me. Bill is picking me up Wednesday to come home as he is in Oklahoma. You acn,t imagine how much I cared for Doug my longtime dentist and truefriend. When Roy died you both wqere with me. be assured that I will be calling you when I arruve back in Beaumont. Please let him know when you put him to rest that I thought he was one of the finest man I ever met. The memories are so many and such fond ones that I could go for days recalling them. I will always give thanks to God for having him as a part of my life. He loved you dearly and I know he will be missed. I know he is with our heavenly Father now .He has won the race .
