I began going to Dr. Mattingly in 1961 when I was a senior in highschool. He was still my dentist until he retired in mid 2000's and I admired and respected him as a man and as a dentist. He was also my friend and I loved him as I would any dear friend. I will miss just knowing he is here on this earth but one day we will meet again. God speed and rest well.

I am so sorry for your loss. He was my dentist for 30 or so years and have not been able to find another quite like him. Such a kind, sweet, caring man. He will be missed. Praying the memories will give the family comfort.

I am very sorry to read about Doug's death. He was a great dentist and a very nice gentleman. He was fun to be around and always had a joke for me, my mother and father. We have better smiles, thanks to his great work. May God give your family comfort during this sad time.

Dear Linda and Family:
On behalf of the Sweet Family, please let this letter serve as our condolence in the loss of your loved one. Naturally, we feel sorrow for those who grieve. It hurts when human ties are broken. But should we feel sorry for those who have gone to be with Christ? Never! To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We have reason to rejoice - even in our sorrow. "Christ is the answer to sorrow.” In a time like this, there are three courses open to man: (1) He may give way to despair and become bitter; (2) He may endeavor to drown his sorrow in drink or in a life of wickedness; or (3) He may turn to God. In your sorrow, turn to God. Our Christ is more than adequate for sorrow. Know that our thoughts are with you and your family. I remain - Your Sister in Christ

When I graduated from Bmt High School in 1974, I was working as a Dental Asst. for Dr. Mattingly and did so til I moved to Austin in 1977. He went to great lengths to help me find a "good" dentist to work for and called all his dentist friends here in Austin. And he did find that perfect job which was the begining of a wonderful life here in Austin, 35 yrs. later. He was such a kind and gentle man and I will be forever grateful for what he did for me. I am so sorry for you loss.

Linda, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Doug would always put a sparkle in me when he would come by the office to get shredded paper for the dogs and show pictures. He was a great comfort to me after my beloved Bill passed away. My daughters family will always be greatful to him for the beautiful dog he gave them. If you need anything at all, please feel free to give me a call.

So sad to hear of Dr. Mattingly passing. He was the kindness, most gentle dentist that I have ever had. I have truly missed him since his retirement. I enjoyed hearing of his love for the greyhounds; Linda and family, you all will be in my prayers.
