I have known Moodye, Franklin, and Albert most of my life and have many menories of my visits and coffee at the insurance agency. Three generations of Bogans and Quibodeauxs have done business with this fine group of men. Now Moodye and Franklin will be resting in the presence of God.

I always loved Uncle Moody. He was such a soft spoken man who always seemed to have a smile on his face. I hope he and Uncle Franklin have a great reunion in Heaven together.

So much can be said of Moodye's many achievements, but he was also gentle, kind, fair and ethical. These attributes will long be remembered as they are the essence of a man of true character. He left his family and friends an immeasurable legacy in which they can find comfort in the sadness of his passing.

Moodye,
It is at times such as these that one inevitably realizes that there are things that should have been said, memories revisited over and over again and certainly many more thanks offered than ever were said.
Molly and I are in Beaumont and we are here to join with the family to celebrate your life and what you have done for so many over the years. I want to take a bit of time to remember and say a few of those overdue thank s. There are so many memories it is hard to know where to start, so I will touch on a few. There were the endless hours of playing gin rummy, watching football on New Year’s, eating venison and hogs head cheese at Christmas , putting on boots in the mud room and my hanging out at the barn while you did chores. Thank you.
I have vivid memories of saddling up Lipstick for an afternoon ride around the farm, sometimes with Sherrill and sometimes just alone. Looking back I find it amazing that you let me just take off trusting that I would take care. But I also now know that you were helping prepare me for life in your own quiet manner. Thank you.
You always had time for me and others. I recall conversations about your business; what it was, how you handled situations and what I now know was your philosophy of interacting with life. You talked with me of things like going around after a day and making sure that all the property that was listed was properly locked up. And I recall how you went about building the new building for Williamson Insurance. I now see this was your way of gently educating me as how to get along in life. These were obviously lessons by demonstration. Thank you.
I recall fishing in the gulf where we would rise early in the morning, no sun in sight just yet, the cool gulf air hanging in the sky, lowering the boat into the water at the boat house, motoring slowly to get buckets and buckets of live shrimp for bait, fishing the day away with sweat streaming from our bodies, soaking our shirts and loving every minute. We would catch endless numbers of fish and the day would just be whisked away and yet seem timeless. Thank you.
And then you did it all over again with my children after Molly and I visited Texas with the five kids (who are no longer kids!); you extended a wonderful welcome to my family. Over the last few days we have spoken with them and they remember you well. Treva remembers the beach house and cards and Suki remembers you for your presence. I spoke today with Aaron and Neil and they remember the fishing trips. They remember getting bait, the endless fish we would catch, the sweat running down their backs, and the sodas they did not want because it would mean putting down their poles. Thank you.
You did so many more things that I am sure will creep back into my memories as the next few days unfold. If there is a thread, then the thread is that you did so many things for me that I always imagined a father would do. Thank you.
Love David (and Molly)

I am sorry that I cannot attend Moodye's funeral service. In Oregon we call these events a Celebration of Life and I think that is appropriate for Moodye. He had a great life and contributed much to his family and community. His obituary did not mention his competence in horsemanship and love of horses, but I do not remember a time when Moodye did not have a horse. The last one that I know of was one of the wild mustangs that he bought at an auction who would come over to him if he walked into the corral. So his horses loved him too as we all did.
