Truly we have lost a beautiful man, the last of a breed of "gentle men." I looked forward each week for Jim's visit to my office as Volunteer Director at St. E. His good spirits, his spiffy appearance and demeanor, and the beautiful homegrown rose he brought all made the day. He was beloved by the staff of ICU and by the families of patients he served as a volunteer. I was blessed to know Jim and regret that I am away from Beaumont this month and could not join you all at his services. Please be comforted by the knowledge that all of you are in the prayers of those of us whose lives Jim touched.

Hi Jadene and family. What a nice picture of your father. Sorry to hear. I will print out the picture and place it in the book with the Beavers Genology. James was a well liked person and we had many memories of him and Jeri while we were growing up. I remember the good times we had when we used to visit them in Farmington. He always had a good sense of humor and he used to make us laugh. I remember that smile and his walk so well I can see it now in my memories. Keep in touch Love Edith

Dear, Dear Jim - I miss you so very much. . . your gentle nature, your warm smile, your happy blue eyes, your kind sense of humor, your love of everyone around you, your nicknames for others, the way you lived your life for others, and the respect you have always shown everyone that was lucky enough to cross paths with you. I'll always cherish my little keepsake - the ladle that says, "Always Ready to Serve." I know you are resting in peace & enjoying the company of your "redhead."

What a life well lived! We were blessed when we moved to Beaumont to have Mr. Nichols as our neighbor. On his regular morning walks he brought our paper from the street to our front door and picked up trash throughout Belle Chase. He helped numerous neighbors in special ways with an infectious smile and always a kind word. We always admired his spirit and buoyant attitude, all the while he cared for his ailing bride those many long years. Every husband and wife could only be so lucky when they are stricken like she was. Connie always enjoyed making cookies for Mr. Jim and he was always too kind to let her know if it was his favorite. We were truly blessed to share a part of his walk on God's green earth.

It is not often that one is fortunate enough to meet and know a person with such charisma as Jim.What a dear man with such a joyful presence and exceptional personality. He was a lover of life, of people, and of his devoted and caring family who will miss him deeply. Jim,as well as the family will be fondly remembered in my thoughts and prayers as we pay tribute to our loved one.

My family and I used to serve Mr. Nichols homebound Communion at Collier Park for Trinity. We thought the world of him and just loved sitting and talking with him. He always had a big wonderful smile and we really enjoyed listening to him talk about his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now but we take comfort in the fact that he is smiling down on all of us right now.

There was no finer a gentleman than Jim. I met him 30 years ago when he sold us tile for homes we were building. We quickly became repeat customers! Our relationship grew from a businessman who served us, to a friend for the rest of his life. His ready smile brightened a room and he always had one for anyone he encountered...along with a kind and inspirational word. Jim was the consummate "good neighbor"...always looking for a way to help someone out... and he considered the entire Golden Triangle and beyond his "neighborhood."
He will be missed.
