Jeff: I am so sorry for your loss. I know you loved your dad dearly, I know that he knew that, and I know that he loved you. I wish I had some words to say that would give some real comfort to you, but all I can do is convey my sympathy and tell you that I am here if you need anything that I could provide -- and no, its not just a platitude. You are so young, too young to have endured the loss of both of your best friends. And I am so sorry. You are still the 9 year-old boy I met at Pizza Hut, the "golden- child" of the family, just a little older and, yes, wiser. Such is life. Take care of your beautiful little family and enjoy every minute of precious life. Barbara, I don't think I have to say anything, as you already know my heart anyway without me speaking a word. I am so sorry for your loss. Life is so complicated, and difficult, and I am so sorry that you have to face tremendous challenges, then and now. One day we will get the answers to the big questions, and we will probably have to wait in line to talk to God so we will have plenty of time to get our lists together and be sure that we don't leave anything out. I love you.

With love, Kathy Richardson

Dear Jeff, Barbara, & families:
Your quote below says so much with so few words, and best of all, your acts on behalf of Joe speak truth to the value of his life.
“You are my rock, my soldier, my mentor, but most importantly you will always be my partner in my life. You have taught me so much.”
You are so much Joe’s son and hearing you speak and watching your deeds we see his teachings revealed in his life, and now in yours. We offer these scriptures to comfort you and your family in this time of grief in the hope that they will help you see Joe really isn’t lost, but will live on in each life he touched.
THE PATH JOE SET FOR YOU:
Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
THE PATHWAY STONES:
Proverbs 10:9
Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.
Proverbs 12:22
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.
2 Peter 1:5
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,
THE SOUL OF FAITH:
1 Corinthians 13, 1:13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known……
In loving memory of Joe H. Chandler, your father, our brother, our friend,
