I am very sad to find out! Dr. Koehn was my teacher, my boss (during my graduate program)and my department head back in early to mid 1980's. In those early 80's, he started at Lamar after retirement of Dr. Luther Beale (another fantastic teacher and great human being), who passed in a few years later. I miss Dr. Koehn!

My sincere condolences to Ed's family and Carol. Ed always had a contented smile about him, and I felt very easy and comfortable around him. Ed will be deeply missed at the ISEC conferences, to which he had become a regular. I must say I was simply shocked to hear about his sudden demise, having met him only in June 2011 in Zurich. Anyway, I am sure Ed is in a better place.

Dear Carol, William, James and Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Enno's death. I will always remember the twinkle in his eye and great smile when he heard or thought of something funny or telling.

My earliest memory of Enno was in 1945 or, perhaps, 1946, when he took my sister and me "begging" on Thanksgiving. "Begging" on Thanksgiving was a College Point ritual that died out in the 1950's. He was 9 or 10 at the time and, I think, was pushed into taking us by his parents. But, "memory is a fickle witness" according to Günter Grass.

I also remember his irritation at having to sit at the kid's table with Erda and me at a Thanksgiving feast for all the relatives that my parent threw to celebrate paying off all the "loans" relatives gave them so that they could by our house in College Point.

Since Enno was four years older than me, we didn't pal around as children and teenagers, but he was always a part of my life. A dear man!!

Helen and I send our sincerest sympathy to you all.

Uwe
