Jan VanBeveren

Jan was my idol I became a goalkeeper because of him . I'll never forget when I found out where the Fort Lauderdale Strikers were practicing and I went there to watch them and hopefully get to meet Jan when he saw me standing over to the side of the field in my goalkeeper outfit when he came up to me brought me onto the field put me in goal and said lets see how good you are kid. I was in shock hear was my idol showing me goaltending moves with Ray Hudson gerd muller and T Cubillas taking shots on me with Jan standing right by my side . Today is a very very sad day because not only we lost one of the best or should I say the best goalkeeper in the world but also a great great man and friend. God bless you Jan I will never forget you and thank you for making my dreams come true Love your friend goalkeeper Michael Aserov.

I know jan throw soccer. He was a great person. I use to reff is soccer games and see him out there. I will miss him so much. Rest In Peace.

in all my dealings with him he was all was a perfect gentalmen and a pleasure to work with in all my soceer years in dallas. he will be missed.

Jan van Beveren will live on in my mind as being a great man, a great goalkeeper and also a great PSV player. Thank you Jan for the memories. My condolances to his wife and family.

Thank you for sharing your love for the game with my son, Corey Bierbaum. I am thankful that our paths crossed and will remember always your outstretched arms and warm smile!

It's been an absolute honor to have know Jan. Always humble, polite, genuine and kind. He was a dedicated role model to everyone that knew him. He will be dearly missed.

I've enjoyed so much hearing stories of Mr. van Beveren from Roger. We've had many laughs, and reading about him on this site and how he has influenced so many lives brings tears to my eyes. What a wonderful legacy.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family ... especially today.

Although you have been living in the US for such a long time and therefore haven't been in Dutch football news a lot, please know that you have always remained in our minds and heart. Fortunately the author Ruud Doevendans wrote a great homage to you. An homage you certainly deserved. Hopefully, you'll know up there that, despite the controversies in your sportlife, you get all the recognition you deserve here. During the last days I remember again how wonderful the 70's have been for us, football supporters from Eindhoven. Mostly thanks to you, Jan. Thanks for that! People in Holland realize more and more that we could have won the World Cup with your participation as well. You will not be forgotten. Rest in peace!

Mr Jan VanBeveren, I will truly miss seeing you every day at Tobe Hahn post office....You know all of us there loved you!!! And soccer has a whole new meaning to me now!! You are a great man....I miss you already!

When we would pull up to the field for training on Tues and Thursday, Garrison would always look for Jan and say "I hope we have Jan tonight" .. We moved here the same year he did and have played every season with him. Jan taught my son so much on the field but most importantly he was a friend to him. Everytime we step on the field from here on after we will always see his face and hear him in the wind....We love you Jan..
