Someone once said that with great power comes great responsibility. Perhaps nowhere in our society is this point better illustrated than the power with which we entrust our judges. The power to restrict or take our civil liberties and in extreme cases, even a life, rests on their shoulders. It goes without saying that this responsibility is given only to a select few.
Judge Plunk was one of those we trusted, devoting nearly 3 decades of his life to the causes of fairness and justice. A true champion of law enforcement, the depth of caring for the badge and his community went much deeper than his black robe; he was our friend. No matter what side of the law a person might have been on, he cultivated a reputation for being fair-minded, compassionate, and tough when necessary.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 tells us that we should "offer prayers, thanksgiving, and intercession for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness". Judge Plunk's hard work and dedication made it easier to live that peaceful and quiet life and for this, we thank him. To the Plunk family, we offer our deepest and most heartfelt condolences and above all else, our gratitude for sharing him with us for the time he was here.

To the Plunk Family, we wish you well and know that prayers have been said for you. The Judge did a wonderful job on that bench for such a long time. He worked well with the law enforcement community and was fair and balanced in his rulings. He will be missed and no one will be able to exactly do the job as he did. Thank you for the scarifices you made to allow him to serve the community. He is the Cornerstone of the 356th District Court from now on.

A great man and gentleman and a friend and supporter of the law as well as the officers who uphold it. You will always be remembered for the respect you showed others and the outstanding character you emanated. For all of these things, you will be greatly missed. But more importantly, greatly remembered.

Jan & Katherine:
Just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you both. I will miss my friend. We had a lot of laughs together through the years at the courthouse. He was a wise man and I am so glad I had the opportunity to work along beside him.

Our small towns, the legal profession and the judicial community lost a great member. Britt never lost sight of his humanity. He will be remembered as a good man and a fine judge. May His comfort grant you eternal peace now and forever.

Dear Mrs plunk and family. I was very saddened to hear of Judge Plunks passing.I've known his honor for the past 15 or 20 years,as his ups man at the courthouse.I've also sat in his jury box on 2 of his cases. He had time to talk to me even with his busy schedule. His professionalism and true caring nature will be sorely missed. We are very sorry for your loss.
