To the family of Robert Thornell, Sr.
I regret that you must suffer this loss. I pray that GOD will help you all heal from the loss of Husband, Father, Marine.
I served with MIKE 3/7; 3rd sqd,3rd plt. from 04/68 - 05/69. I carried the PRC-25 radio. I don't recall that Robert and I ever met, Seemed that we were in combat 24/7 and did not know other Marines within our own platoon. Many are known to each other only by nick names. I regret the loss of my fellow Brother MARINE. SEMPER FIDELIS

Once a Marine always a Marine. Semper Fi. Rest in peace Marine. Thank you for your service to our country.

Robert, All though I did not know you, I also served in Vietnam from 68 to 69 in Phu Bia,Vietnam. I will be there on Wednesday to Honor you in a full Military Honors Service. I belong to the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group. I want to express our condolence to the Thornell family. We thank the family for letting us preform this Military Honors Salute to a true Veteran. I hope we do Robert proud and that this is what he wanted.

Sheridan, my heart is breaking for your loss. I so wish I could be there. Please know that you and your children will be in my prayers. What a handsome photo in his military uniform and what an honor to have a military funeral. They are not only touching but so reverent. Robert was such a special guy and I know he was so lucky to have you as his wife as you were to have him as your husband.

Sheridan and family, we were so sorry to hear about Robert. We hope and know you will find some comfort in remembering what a fine man Robert was. Actually, it was the two of you together after we got to know you, too. You and your family are in our thoughts, and you know we care about you and wish peace in your life. Sheridan, Little Robert and the entire Thornell family.... My heart just sank when I saw Robert's passing & I immediately could see his smiling face & hear his resounding laughter. I will never forget the last time I saw him not so long ago or so it seems. Sheridan, Robert loved telling the world how much he loved you and it was because of you he laughed, smiled & breathed. Robert, you, and your family have always been in our hearts. Your biggest and best comfort through this time will be knowing and remembering the love you shared and spread so wide. He was and always will be one of the best friends a person could ever have.

Sheridan I am so sorry to hear about Big Robert. I am just in shock about this. I believe he was a fine man with good values and always found something good in all situations. I know your children and grandchildren will also miss him greatly. You all have many wonderful memories to help you get through. I pray that God will give you the strength you need to carry on and I pray especially for Robert. I know when you get to heaven your dad will be there ready to talk and listen just like he did all your life. It's a wonderful thing to know your parents always had time to talk to you.
