We know God is with you and your family Shirley, in this time of need. Doug was a great friend to us both and will live with us in word and deed. Now he has all the time he needs to do record copies and music arrangments for his band in heaven. You and Doug hold a special place in our hearts.

Shirley, my prayers are with you and the family. Doug has always been a good man, he inspired me in many ways. His love for family was always paramount. He was one of the reason I joined the Air Force, his duty to God, country, and family was always unconditional. Maybe some I will come and visit you.

Shirley, I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of Doug. He was a man full of spirit and I enjoyed the two of you each time I met you both. May God bless you and your family that you will find strength.

What a talented showman, and what a delightful guy! A friend to all he met. I remember the hazy crazy days of the '50s when Doug Sr. hired me at Neches Butane and Doug Jr. already was a popular sax man, locally and "across the river" in Louisiana, where he would play until dawn. I even remember one night when he proudly walked into the old Twilight Club in Port Neches with the beautiful Shirley on one arm and someone else I've forgotten on the other, laughing and joking: "This is my wife, and this is my girlfriend." Only Doug Deane could get away with that, and only Shirley would let him! My deepest sympathies to the family. A beloved musician is gone.

We are so sorry that Doug has passed but be assured that he is in a much better place. A place where there is no pain, no suffering, just love, light, family and friends reunions, and most of all, Infinite Spirit. Remember that Saturday we stopped to see who built your pool. That was the beginning of a wonderful and lifelong friendship. Know that we are with you and love you not only at this time but always.
