Frances and Family, We are so sorry to hear of your loss. May God be with you all at this time. Charles was a wonderful, caring man and everyone thought highly of him and respected him so much. He had such a big heart and was so good to Dad through the years. He will be missed.

When we were little kids, Uncle Charles used to call us mullets. Finally, one of us -- none of whom wanted to betray we didn't know everything -- caved to curiosity and asked what in the world a mullet was.
Uncle Charles, ever the cagey fisherman, swept the lot of us with a look that clearly betrayed his surprise at this shameful hole in our education. Then, with appropriate gravity, he answered. "Kin to a barracuda and no good."
Rest in peace, dear barracuda. The mullets miss you.
Love, Kathleen

I would like to tell you a story about Charles. He was the asst. principal at the high school when I went there. I was in Mrs. Pool's english class one day and she was reading Silas Mariner to us. It was a terrible book. I refused to read one day and she sent me to go see Mr. Thomas. When I got there he told me to bend over his desk and take my licks. but I asked him to hear my side of the story and he informed me that I did not have a side and if I didn't do as he said, that we were going to go out to Goodrich and wait for my dad to come out and let him deal with me. I immediately bent over the desk and he gave me a whipping. Afterwards he said that if I never came back that he would not tell my dad, but if I was ever sent back to him that he would tell him about both of them. 16 years later I was elected to the NISD School Board and after the first meeting, Charles, Spencer Viola, Jack Morman and myself went out to the Schooner and had some drinks. I informed everyone there that there was only one person to ever give me licks while I was in school and that person was Charles. We all got a big laugh out it after Charles said that now I was one of his bosses that it was coming back to haunt him. I have many good memories of Charles, one of the best educators that Nederland ISD ever had. I will miss him. Ronny Nelson 7107 Sonora St. Baytown, Texas 77521 281-573-2661 409-543-3122

Francis, We are sure going to miss Charles. We fondly remember our trips to Mountain View, our camp outs, and plays. Those were fun times and we will treasure them. We know you will be missing him but he is in a wonderful place now. We love you. Butch & Dee

Frances, Many are the joys that we share going through God's walk here on earth. One of those joys is to know another Saint has gone to be with Jesus our Savior. Some are the sorrows that we must face as we let our companions go. May the Peace of the Lord be with you in this time of bereavement.Singing Jesus' Praises, Keith

As a young child, I remember the wedding shower for Frances and Charles given by the 1st Baptist Church-men and women attended it. My greatest memories are the common sense things he taught me in my first year at teaching at the high school. He taught me things that carry over in everyday life. Such as, if you want to know which student caused the problem, be patient. He/she will think they got away with it and start bragging and then you got them. Or, don't make rules that you don't plan to enforce, because rules are made to be broken by someone and then what will you do. He always had that sweet, mischievous grin. Our deepest sympathy to Frances and the family. The world will miss this gentle giant. Ginger
