My grandfather is truly my hero and a great inspiration to all who knew him. He was the most selfless, patient, loving, brilliant, and faithful man I've ever known. Being raised in Nederland, I was fortunate to have him in my life on a daily basis. Him and Cutty meant the absolute world to me, and I lived my adolescent life hoping to make them proud. Thank you Papa for guiding me, loving me, and being my role model. Thank you for living your life serving, treating, and loving others. You once wrote me a letter stating that if you could give me advice it would be to "always be true to yourself." I'll hold myself to that, Papa. I love you so much. I'll see you in heaven but until then give Charlie a kiss for me and I hope I continue to make you proud.
Bye Papa -- Love, Rebecca

I first met Chester through his daughter Diane, who is now my wife. I was 25 then and it was only a few months later that my own father passed away. Until Chester died on Friday, it was as if he had taken over where my dad left off 27 years earlier. I don't really ask for advice, but every now and then when I was in a rough spot he would toss a few bits of wisdom my way. He was always supportive and it always made a difference. But it was his example for living that was the greatest help to me, and I'm certain that was the case for most of the people who knew him. I am extremely grateful that our children and I had the chance to know him. He will be tremendously missed.
