Charles, I could not have picked a better father in law than you. You were the kindest most compassionate and understanding person I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, I thank you for the 32 years of your wisdom, and wonderful stories of our family history. The days of you and I fishing and catching two fish at a time when no one else around us could catch one, and we'd just laugh at them and say we are going to eat better than them tonight. But we ended up giving them away most of the time to them anyway. And our deer hunting trips every year, especially thanksgiving and christmas. They will be greatly missed, just know I love you like a father and thank you for all the great times we had as a family. My family could not have survived all these years without you and Opal. I know you are in great company, I'm sure you and Kalika are having a blast, I look forward to the day to see you both again. We all will take great care of grandma. Rest In Peace. Your Daughter in Law. Pam

Opal, I wish you and your family comfort and peace as you adjust to Charles' passing. Although we have been apart for some years, I recall our work TSTA as some of the most satisfying of my life. Charles will be remembed as an outstanding leader.

You were my father-in-law for 15 years and I've treasured your wit and wisdom. A man of few words but when you spoke, I listened. Samuel and Alex already have fishing plans with you in heaven and they're already praying that you "leave them a few to catch". We love you Grandpa and we'll see you on the other side!

Dad,
Thanks for the time I got to spend alone with you in the hospital the last few nights. What little service I provided will help me through the lonely times ahead. I wanted you to know that the boys and I went to the pond to shoot today with their Uncle Mike. I was immediately reminded of how you taught me about gun safety, and how I had to teach the boys how to shoot right handed, even though we are all left handed. They enjoyed the time together with uncle Mike, and they are the ones who keep reminding me how you are finally home. When I get sad, they grab me and hug me. We miss you terribly. Love you always. Tim

Opal, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. He left all of us with such wonderful memories. I appreciate so much your son letting me know. I emailed our classmates whose addresses I had, and we will contact those whose phone numbers we have.
I know the Lord will be with each of you during the long days and nights ahead. Can't you just imagine the grand reunion he is having!!!!

I have known Charles and Opal for over thirty years. Although our families were friends, my fondest memories revolve around experiences we had with Texas State Teachers Association. It was through TSTA that I found the laws in the education code that protected teachers' rights. Charles will be missed. My heart goes out to Opal and the rest of his family in this time of sorrow
