Martha was literally surrounded by family as she slipped out of time and stepped into eternity. Martha had her last living sister on one side and her only daughter on the other side when she went to be with the Lord Jesus. There was a precious exchange between the two sisters and between mother and daughter immediately before her departure. Those present for her ultimate healing (i.e., going where there is no more pain and suffering) were Aunt Dot, Jada, Karen, Doyle & Hope, Norma, Mikayla, Michelle and me at about 7:45 p.m., Tuesday night (Nov. 16).

I have been a part of this family now for 22 years and continue to be impressed with the love that binds this family together. When one person is in need the rest of the family will be there. For example, Jada camped out with Michelle at the hospital for most of the week and a half that Martha was hospitalized. Numerous family members came, visited, stayed, brought food, etc. Also, Doyle came by to check on "Aunt Martha" everyday after work and shared a "special" kiss with her each night as he left. I can only hope to be encircled by so much love at my passing.

The nursing staff at Baptist Hospital was incredible. They were very sensitive to the needs of Martha and the family. Their care could not have been more compassionate. Special thanks go to Cassie, Juanita, Daniel, Chris and Paula.

Martha was greatly loved and will always be remembered.
