William "Billy" Norfleet, Jr.

Uncle Bill,

I am so grateful for what we went through together. Especially the times when things got rough for through that our bond and relationship strengthened. You and Aunt Cyndi took me in and raised me, no questions asked. You were my parents, and I am going to miss you so much. It was an honor to caretake and do things for you these last couple of years. You taught me so much of what I know and have become. I will never ever be able to watch a cowboys game without thinking of you. I would give anything to be able to watch one more game with you. I will love and miss you as long as I am on this earth.

I'm deeply sorrowed to hear that Bill has died. He was a great friend of mine. I would visit him at Salmar daily, and would end up spending hours there when I wasn't in school, helping him receive boxes of records and cassettes into his inventory. I would marvel at his collection of Cowboys pictures in his office. When I became old enough to drive, I would wash and wax his car for him. He and Cindy both were top-drawer people. My deepest sympathies to his survivors and friends.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Billy. It has been many years since I have had the pleasure of Billy's company. I have many fond memories of him from high school,and greatly admired his entrepreneurial skills and success as a record store owner, and most of all his love and care of Cynthia.

He never did not have a smile on his face. He was a good friend to my parents. He will be truly missed. We will see him again one day. To Kerwin and the family know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

he was the scary dad that i never had, and, of course, to his nephew this seemed absurd even though it was the epitome of good sense to me. uncle bill almost always put me on edge, as i'm a nervous type. he had a way of bringing my faculties right to the brink of unease...and then had a knack to make it all seem even worse. he was also the guy who taught me that if you hold your finger up against another person's and then use the fingers of your other hand to run across the two that it feels like 'dead skin'. this is a parlor trick that remains in my arsenal to this day; and, in it's simplicity, is the type of thing that i long ago learned my best friend knew, felt and realized existed within his uncle. he was a man of family, regardless of how it was formed, and a lover of the gifts that life had given him. he was steadfast. he was staunch. he was william and bill and uncle and son and father and husband and caretaker and friend and any other number of things that i could recite in attempt to encompass his being. his life. he dedicated himself, whole-heartedly to taking care of two of the most important people i've ever known in my 29 years on earth. his grace and resolve, like his anger and strength, will be missed and alluded to for the rest of my life. thanks for the part you played in making me, me. i love you billy-goat.

Bill was a wonderful friend for many years and I will never forget his wit and "dry humor"...he was a one of a kind and it was such a blessing to have his friendship in my life. Bill was a funny, opinionated, straight shooting wonderful man who was never at a loss for words. With Bill, you ALWAYS knew where you stood. If you didn't...just ask him and he would quickly tell you! He was also probably one of the most intelligent men I ever knew... and I learned so much from him. What some people may not have known about Bill was that he had a "heart of gold"... and would do anything to help another human being. I love you Bill...and will never forget you my friend. Finally you are with your beautiful bride again.

Billy, your passing is felt even by an old, old friend. My deepest sympathy to those who remained closest to you.

I had the opportunity to get to know Mr. Norfleet when he came to live here at Collier Park. We had many talks while he was here and the one thing that he always talked about was his wife, Cynthia. He loved her and missed her very much. It is comforting to know how happy he is to be with her again.
