Mama, Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and miss you. Thank you for visiting me in my dreams and I appreciate the hugs. You were my best friend and I am looking forward to the day we can all be together again. I love you! Give Daddio, Aunt Marie, Uncle Wayne, Uncle Marvin, Aunt Jean, Mamaw and Papaw, and everyone else my love! See you soon!

I will truly miss Aunt Bertha! I have so many --and such fond -- memories of her. Reading the articles she wrote in her newspaper column ... her love of being outside with her trees and plants and flowers ... going into her kitchen in Vidor and smelling all the good food cooking on the stove... her kindness humor ... and her quiet, shy manner. And she and Aunt Marie were quite the pair! All four of them -- Mark, Wayne, Maria and now Bertha -- are now back together again with MaMa and PaPa. She will always be in my thoughts and prayers, as will Uncle James and their whole family.
"Nothing can fill the gap when we are away from those we love, and it would be wrong to try and find anything. We must simply hold out and win through. That sounds very hard at first, but at the same time, it is a great consolation, since leaving the gap unfilled preserves the bonds between us. It is nonsense to say that God fills the gap. He does not fill it, but keeps it empty so that our communion with another maybe kept alive, even at the cost of pain." ~Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Mom would listen, I mean really listen. She chose her words carefully, never reckless in her response and always considerate of others feelings. She could go from blue jeans, old shirt, and a bandana in her hair and the smell of campfire on her clothes to stylish clothes with the scent of "Youth Dew". She had class, she was a real lady. The most intelligent woman I've ever known. God Bless her, and I Thank God we were blessed with such a wonderful and unique mother.

Aunt Bertha was a kind, caring lady who loved her family. She shared her love of reading with me (and a few of her books!) It was fun to share our love of 'time-travel' stories. I have fond memories of her and I know she will be greatly missed by everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Too many years have passed but I never forgot my Uncle James or my Aunt Bertha. I learned of the tragic news this morning and the sting was deep inside my heart. I am truly sorry for the loss of such a wonderful person. That is how I will always remember her. My love and prayers will be there for my Uncle James and his family throughout this trying time.
My love to each of you. A cousin from the past..

Dear Bertha, I have to start off by saying that you were the most gracious lady I've ever known. I never heard you say a disparaging comment about anyone. While your passing has saddened everyone, the world has lost a very special person. The only solace is that you are free of pain and you are now at peace. We are all selfish in the fact that we didn't want to let go of you with the stark realization that our lives would not be as full without you here. We will all miss you, will always be in our hearts and thoughts. I just know that all the holidays will not be as joyous, and the realization that you are gone will impact all of us. God bless and rest in peace, I'll take care of your little girl. Eternally, your son-in-law of twenty-seven years. Lawrence E. Treuil
