I know I was never that close to him but he was very good to my grandma. That means a lot to me. He was a good man that will be dearly missed.

Cecile, we will all miss our buddy. When I look at his photo (and by the way, I love the one you chose), it really touches my heart. Now he is up there with Jim, Ted, George Hammer, all the others with whom he was so close. When I get a mental picture of that, I cannot be sad.
Of course, we will all "be there" for you. You have the love and concern of our entire Calder family.
Love you,
Micki

Richard has been one of the most unique men in our church and in my circle of special friends. I may not have understood him well, but here are a few of my recollections of him:
He loved animals. They say that dog lovers can't be all bad!
He loved his Sunday School Class. Although he may not have agreed with everything some of the others said or believed, the truth was that every other member of the class claimed the same right - to believe and speak their piece.
One of Richard's gestures I remember so vividly is a note he wrote - in his faltering Parkinson's hand - to my brother Charles who was discouraged and in failing health. I'm not sure I fully understood the message, but it was one of understanding and empathy. And I have been forever grateful for Richard's reaching out to my brother in that way.
My heart goes out to Richard's son David and also to his daughters. My special prayer is for Cecile, who has cared for Richard through better and worse and who deserves a perfect red rose for her loyalty and devotion. We all love you, Cecile.
Goodnight, Richard. We'll see you in that beautiful wakin' up morning!
Love, Gwen
