Kay & Mike,

We are so sorry to hear about your lose. Your Mom was one of the sweetest and kindest people we have ever known. She was so nice to Daddy & Mother during both of their illnesses. We always were so pleased to see her standing at the door when the doorbell rang and she was coming to visit them. Her smile was always so touching and warming to us at 2 different very hard times in our life.

Our prayers are with you,

Chery & Becky

A life lived and ended with utmost grace...there is no one I admired more. I strived and will continue to do so, to be more like Zella Mae in all I do and to treat all I meet like she always did. God blees her soul...what a joy she was to know!

We are truly blessed to have been part of this grand lady's extended family.
The birthday parties, the Christmas brunch and the New Year's gumbo won't be the same but we'll always remember her kindness, her wit and the warmth of her smile.

My daughter, Sara Beth, and I send our most heartfelt sympathy to the McDonald, DeVillier, Walker, Johnson, and Folk family members. We share your profound grief in trying to imagine life without her but know that her legacy of how to live will be your rock to lean on.

I’m so thankful that Zella Mae counted me among her many friends. Now that she is in His presence, it gives me great comfort to picture Him tending to her every need while he counts her as one of His own. Being in her presence made faith easier because her strong faith in Him radiated out to all—she never had to quote me a scripture, it was obvious that she lived by all the verses. She made living an exemplary life seem effortless – what a true genteel Lady with a beautiful spirit beyond compare.

Zella Mae was one of the few we meet in our lives who truly sees us, listens to us, and meets our need for real unconditional love and acceptance. Matthew 25:21 sums up your life so well, Zella Mae - Well done, good and faithful servant! It was my great pleasure and honor to know you and love you.

Mrs. McDonald was the aide in my first grade classroom. (My mother, Virginia, was the aide in the class across the hall.) From the first day of school, I felt at home in that class largely because Mrs. McDonald brought the presence of the Lord with her wherever she went. I am so grateful for the investment that Mrs. McDonald made in my life. Her enthusiasm and encouragement and joy have affected every year of my life since. She and Mrs. Griggs even attended my wedding. I will be praying for all of her dear family as you miss her. Thank you for all the years that you shared her with the students at Highland Park.

"Auntie" was a beautiful person both inside and out. It was so much fun being around her and her "girls", they were a lively bunch and enjoyed being together. She WILL be missed

What a wonderful memorial to her life written in the notice. Each of her fine qualities endeared her to all that knew her. She was at Highland Park when I taught second grade there, and it was a privilege to work with her as well as a joy to teach the Devillier boys. She was a testimony of what God would have us all to be. My prayers are with you in the difficult days ahead. May God comfort you and heal your wounded hearts. Treasure the memories.
