Melvin was a working colleague of mine at Texaco Chemical Company in Port Neches, TX for many years. We were both maintenance foremen. One day during a work stoppage we were driving over the Rainbow (Orange) Bridge in the Company truck and had a tire blow out. We hitchhiked and a striker picked us up. He was complaining about the strike so we asked to be dropped off at a grocery store. We called the Plant and they sent someone to get us. We missed him this year at the Pompano Company Christmas Luncheon where he often gave the Invocation. I didn't know he was ill. He was a fine christian gentleman. He will be missed.

Melvin was a wonderful minister. I can remember him as a young child, campmeetings in Vidor, LR, AK then at Vidor Church and then a member at Silsbee. Oh! What a Blessing He was to us!

We were sadden to hear of the passing of a dear friend and fellowlabourer in the work of God.
Bro. Melvin McDaniel was always kind and warm to the Boyds, whether at Vidor camp, preaching revival, happening up on him a resturant or meeting him at the auto auction.
Always a Christian gentleman in every way.
In the days to come, we will miss our preacher friend.
God Bless the memory of a GOOD man.
To the family at this time of a tremendous loss, you all are in our prayers.

The time he preached about and longed for has now come to pass. He has gained what many of us are still reaching for, Heaven. One only needs to look at the legacy he has left behind to know that he was not only a servant of God but a true example to his family and friends. A mighty soldier has now left the earthly battlefield to enjoy everlasting life. I look forward to thanking him one day for showing me how to finish this race.

Our lives are richer for being acquainted with Bro. Melvin McDaniel. My husband has fond memories dating back to the Vidor Camp Meetings. His ministry was a blessing to us each time we heard him through the years. Bro. and Sis. McDaniel have been a blessing since attending church in Silsbee. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sis. Ruby and the McDaniel family. James and Charlene Mckinney
