Mrs. Yates was a wonderful, caring teacher, and a true southern lady. She inspired me to read, write, and truly think about literature in a way that I never had experienced before. She treated all of her students in a way that made you think that you were her favorite. The world has lost a special person; but I feel truly blessed to have been one of her many students along her life's journey. God bless her sweet soul.

Mrs. Yates was my fifth grade teacher at Eugene Field, and she was the first great teacher I experienced. Indeed, she "lit the fire" for learning for me which influenced me throughout my academic career. I've never forgotten her and the role she played in my life. Sincerest condolences to her family.

I had an excellent educational experience in Beaumont public schools, beginning with Eugene Field Elementary School. I have benefitted my whole life from the love of learning instilled in me by the excellent excellent teachers there, foremost of which was Mildred Yates. I have never forgotten her and how she influenced my life, and never will. She combined a sharp mind, an excellent education, a gift for teaching, and a genuine concern for students in a way that I hope every child in school in our country gets the opportunity to experience at least one. Farewell, thank you, and God bless you, my childhood mentor and sweet friend.

Mildred Yates was one of the most marvelous teachers I have ever known. She had such a wonderful way of instilling a love of learning and bringing the best out in each and every student. We all loved her and will miss her so very much!
